In the role of the IT Operations Azure Lead will oversee the work completed by an an outsourced team of Third Line Engineers who manage and maintain all services deployed to the Microsoft Azure cloud.


What you will do:


• Oversee the work completed by the outsourced team, ensuring this is aligned to the strategy for the Bank’s Microsoft Azure technologies.

• Ensure work completed contributes towards building a better experience for colleagues and customers alike

• Encourage outsourced work to have focus on reducing costs by implementing more efficient processes and automating them.

• Work closely with the Business Analysts and outsourced release teams to oversee the integration of new technologies whilst keeping the Bank live

• Continue to learn new technologies in order to deliver the best customer and user experience.  

• Ensure that the outsourced work is completed within agreed SLA’s

• To build the Cloud Service Operations processes and procedures and act as the subject matter expert for cloud operational issues

• Sample check the work completed by the outsourced team, providing feedback and ensuring action plans are created by the outsourced provider to ensure feedback is addressed

• Act as a point of escalation for the outsourced team, providing guidance in your technology specialism and specialist Metro Bank knowledge

• Support unblocking issues that that arise within the Bank that the outsourced team come across 

• To Build strong relationships with the business and key IT stakeholders especially the other Cloud Service functions and delivery functions in order to closely align short and long term technology plans with business requirements and internal demands and priorities

• Work closely with the Engineering teams to develop a roadmap for upgrading and maintaining key Azure cloud platforms.

What you will need: 


• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders

• You may have worked as a lead engineer a third line operations team

• You may have previously worked in an oversight role in Technology

• Consistent track record of leading technical change

• Written and contributed to technical standards and technology roadmaps that have been adopted and used at a company wide scale

• Proven skills in troubleshooting Microsoft Azure platforms and applications that run on Microsoft platforms.

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to oversee and manage outsourced suppliers

• Patching and management of cloud systems

• Risk management and associated control mitigation in a cloud environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
