We strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive workplace and to find the very best person for the job, we always look across a wide range of diverse communities. • Underwrite Commercial Banking propositions from the Real Estate Finance, Private Banking and Partnerships teams • Coach and support First Line of Defence colleagues through the lending partnership model • Work collegiately with senior management team members, particularly the Credit Partners and Lead Credit Partners • Ensure acceptable lending asset quality is maintained when originating new customer exposures, and ongoing via individual and wider existing customer portfolio management activities, reacting appropriately to early warning signs. • Ensure compliance with Metro Bank’s relevant lending policies, standards & processes • Lend the Metro Bank way, focusing on the ‘who’ element and having a deep understanding of repayment sources - as well as building up your own sectoral and product knowledge • Operate with an individual personal Delegated Lending Authority Metro Bank. Present, analyse, and critique more complex lending propositions for review by higher authority holders • Maintain a positive, flexible, and pragmatic outlook in a pressured environment to help the bank achieve its growth objectives • Selectively accompanying First Line of Defence colleagues in meetings with / visits to borrowing customers • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders • Experience of directly writing of and/or underwriting of Commercial Banking propositions, using a personal lending authority to sign off your own lending decisions • Experience working as a Credit Manager, Relationship Management, RM Support or Distressed Debt Management or equivalent • Knowledge of commercial lending and general banking and finance – including relevant legal concepts and issues • Excellent Stakeholder Management/Engagement and negotiation skills • Knowledge of commercial lending and general banking and finance, including relevant legal concepts and issues • Wider commercial and economic knowledge and awareness • We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts! • We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions!). • We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.
