 What you will do:

 

As a Commercial Credit Partner, you will play a crucial role in supporting the ambitions and targets for Corporate and Commercial and the wider Bank. As a Credit Partner, you will directly support the Head of Commercial Portfolio Banking and Head of Commercial Lending and their teams by:

 

•   Dealing with and responding to new lending applications from Commercial Lending Directors and Commercial Relationship Managers in a timely way and ensure the quality of the lending decisions you make or recommend fit the Metro Bank way of lending

•   Support colleagues and help them develop their own credit skills

•   Complete annual reviews and collaborate with Commercial Lending Directors and Commercial Relationship Managers in the monitoring and control of their existing portfolios, especially when there are early warning signs present

•   Work closely with Business & Credit Support when customers are showing signs of distress

•   Support ad-hoc and ongoing projects to further enhance the Bank’s Credit processes and systems

•   Collaborate with and support the wider Corporate and Commercial Credit team when required

 What you will need: 
 

•   Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders

•   Excellent knowledge of how to assess, underwrite and approve Commercial lending propositions using a Delegated Lending Authority (making recommendations for proposals above that limit), with an emphasis on understanding key risks 

•   Understand the credit risks associated with lending to Commercial customers

•   Experience working as a Commercial Underwriter, Commercial Lender / Relationship Manager or Credit Partner, accompanied with the experience of lending to commercial/corporate borrowers

•   Understand the importance of appropriate deal structuring and what should be in a loan document to protect the Bank

•   Experience of working closely with Commercial Lending Directors and Commercial Relationship Managers, including customer meetings

•   Knowledge of leading, coaching and developing colleagues

•   General Business & Commercial Banking experience combined with economic awareness
