Mortgages are critical to realising our strategic priorities and we have ambitious plans to grow the mortgage portfolio into new and specialist markets, we also want to have a better level of automation and straight through processing to improve our customer experience and we are working towards coming an IRB bank with mortgages as the top priority.

As a Lead Credit Risk Manager (Second Line of Defence) you will have the opportunity to take a leadership role and shape the team’s contribution to the banks objectives. You will lead a team of credit risk managers and analysts and will be central to ensuring that the bank grows the mortgage portfolio safely and sustainably. You’ll work closely with the First Line of Defence credit risk team to create growth strategies in line with the banks risk appetite and you’ll be responsible for the credit risk management of the mortgage portfolio including setting the risk appetite and policy, carrying out portfolio analytics and benchmarking and you’ll oversee that the bank holds appropriate levels of capital and impairment. The team are fast-paced and agile and you’ll get the chance to be involved in a wide variety of projects and work with a broad network of stakeholders.

So what would you be doing?...

•Shaping the growth of mortgage lending to meet the banks strategic objectives
•Helping the bank expand into new mortgage markets safely and sustainably 
•Leading a team of managers and analysts, shaping and overseeing the work of the team
•Developing team members through motivating, leadership and coaching
•Supporting the banks IRB application by providing portfolio insight and input to model developments
•Being responsible for the credit quality of the mortgage portfolio, carrying out portfolio analytics and reviews to ensure that risks are assessed and understood
•Leading and shaping our credit policy and strategy  
•Optimising the use of credit risk models  
•Automating the customer journey through new models and solutions
•Innovating the approach to risk management 
•Creating and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
•Working with a range of colleagues across the business

•Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
•In order to hit the ground running you will need an in-depth knowledge in credit risk management, you’ll have worked in a number of credit risk roles before and have a good rounded knowledge of credit risk
•To be successful in this role you will need a good knowledge of mortgages, the mortgage market and mortgage regulation, with experience of working on a mortgage portfolio
•You will be experienced and comfortable leading a team and be driven and enthusiastic and want to overcome challenges
•Naturally, you will be analytically strong, have great attention to detail and problem solving skills
•And we’ll need you to have strong stakeholder management skills and be ability to influence stakeholders from different business areas and at different levels of the organisation
