Are you keen to utilise your Financial Crime knowledge to make a real contribution towards an organisation? Are you passionate about improving processes and driving positive improvements? Do you enjoy leading and managing teams to develop and grow? If yes, then we may have the role for you!

As a Financial Crime Risk and Control Manager at Metro Bank, you will lead a team as part of the first line of defence. You will ensure the customer facing distribution channels comply with Metro Bank policy and other key Financial Crime controls to comply with regulation and legislation.  You will be responsible supporting the delivery of Financial Crime training and guidance across the customer facing distribution channels including minimum standards, red flag training etc. You will have input and influence on new on boarding cases and Ongoing Due Diligence cases, receiving feedback and supporting the business to ‘get it right first time’. In addition, you will be responsible for supporting teams whose roles will focus on preparation and decisioning of complex and high risk cases, developing Relationship Manager capability within Business Areas, ultimately enabling the bank to meet its obligations whilst ensure we continue to create fans.

Depending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working. Ask your recruiter for more details.

So what would you be doing?...

•Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of necessary controls to bring channels in line with AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC and Anti-Tax Evasion policies
•Develop and implement a risk-based approach to Financial Crime controls based on the Financial Crime Risk Assessment and risk appetite
•Responsible for the quality of work / output of your team, ensuring SLAs are achieved
•Embed Financial Crime related policies as required by business and regulation changes
•Lead ongoing relationship with the Financial Crime Policy Team, ensuring distribution of any submissions, feedback and Management Information to your team
•Maintain awareness of key regulatory, legislative and industry updates and ensure Invoice Finance is aware of any anticipated changes to industry-wide and Bank specific standards
•Coordinate and manage risk assessments by the relevant first Line of Defence business areas and the required mitigation plans developed by the 2nd Line of Defence
•Monitor Ongoing Due Diligence requirements, ensuring there is high visibility of upcoming and overdue reviews
•Review new on boarding and Ongoing Due Diligence cases that are deemed to be higher risk, and input into the decision on whether the customer is on-boarded or relationship maintained

You need to be this kind of person…

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment
• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow
• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do

And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the courage to call out any concerns.

We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things...

•Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
•Previous experience in regulatory, legislative requirements and industry practice for Financial Crime disciplines; AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC and Tax Evasion
•Implementation of Financial Crime controls that are effective, simple and easy for colleagues to adopt
•Naturally you will have detailed knowledge and experience of working within applicable regulatory frameworks
•You will be an experienced people manager with a proven track record of developing teams
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•Adept at building relationships across the Business at all levels
•An industry recognised qualification in Financial Crime would be desirable but is not essential

Important Footnote Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.  We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked.  So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck!
