Closing Date 28-Apr-2022

Can you influence with your strategic thinking? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments? If yes, we may have the role for you!

As Consumer Pricing and Analytics Manager you will be the key person to devise, propose and implement pricing and customer management strategies to maximise the profitability of a new Metro Bank consumer lending proposition. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the wider business, such as the sales team, product managers, credit risk colleagues, and compliance professionals to launch a new-to-market product offering. In addition you will deliver the consumer lending team’s strategy and objectives, working closely with senior leadership to define, develop and evaluate the implementation of innovative pricing models and strategies.

Most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working. Ask your recruiter for more details.

So what would you be doing?...

• Creating high-value analysis, synthesising quantitative and qualitative data to provide clear, actionable insights and present these findings across the business.
•Planning and executing regular pricing improvements, pricing tests, customer journey tests with engineering teams and product teams to continuously improve customer experience, originations and profit.
•Monitoring the commercial performance of our loans portfolio, including sales volumes, credit risk quality, pricing and yields, forecasting and budgeting and adequacy of the proposition to customer’s needs.
•Investigating our exposure to different kinds of pricing and market risks, and our resilience in times of stress, and propose and prioritise frameworks and/or activities to manage these.
•Providing analytical support, as required, to other initiatives, such as Unsecured Loans, Credit Cards, and Overdrafts
•Setting your own agenda and priorities, and delivering against them autonomously as well as with guidance from the team and stakeholders
•Ensuring strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders so that we work towards shared agendas.
•Nurturing less-experienced team members and supporting their development of both technical and non-technical skills.

You need to be this kind of person…

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment
• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow
• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do

And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the courage to call out any concerns.

We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things...

• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
• Naturally you will have proven hands-on experience of building valuation or profitability models, and the ability to produce those from a mix of assumptions and data points
•You should be fluent with SQL to retrieve information from our data warehouse for analysis, and ideally SAS or R for analytics, as well as advanced Excel, at a level to develop other colleagues’ technique and understanding
•The ideal candidate will have the ability to use data to identify issues, tell stories and create strategies to make a business impact
•You should have strong interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, as well as solid commercial acumen
• You should have a familiarity with credit risk and responsible lending requirements applicable to consumer lending products, including scorecards and affordability assessments.
•Ideally you will have a working knowledge of regulation that applies to lending products, including FCA CONC and CCA

Important Footnote Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.  We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked.  So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck!
